Box Office Report: Paranormal Activity 4 #1 With $34 million, Argo a Strong 2nd

Box Office Report: Paranormal Acitivty 4 #1 With $34 million, Argo a Strong 2ndEven though all the new films this week were panned by critics, the domestic box office is going to have another huge weekend. The box office is projecting a $135 million dollar total, up 20% from last year.

Paranormal Activity 4 will be number one, however the film franchise will open with its lowest gross since the original. As of now, Paranormal Activity is projecting a $34 million dollar weekend. Paranormal Activity 3 opened with a $52 million dollar weekend, and Paranormal Activity 2 opened with $40 million. Still, Paranormal Activity 4 only cost $6 million dollars to make. So, it will be highly profitable.

Ben Affleck’s Argo will come in second. The Warner Bros. capper has garnered strong word of mouth advertisement. The consensus is, this film is good and Oscar worthy. Middle age American’s have been pouring into the theaters for two weeks now, the film will do about $20 million for its second weekend in a row.

Alex Cross, the universally panned film starring Matthew Fox and Tyler Perry will bring in a weak $13 million this weekend. Lionsgate has to be disappointed. The film started out with great pub. Those pictures of a ripped Matthew Fox had everyone intrigued. Then critics saw the movie and all its momentum was stopped cold.
