Bret Michaels and CBS Settle Tony Awards Accident Lawsuit

Written by Alexander Tucker   // 05/15/2012

Bret MichaelsBret Michaels and CBS have finally settled the lawsuit over The Tony Awards injury that the rocker sustained in 2009.

After performing the 1980s Poison hit “Nothin’ But a Good Time,” a song featured in the broadway musical Rock of Ages, Michaels smashed his face into a low hanging set piece while exiting the stage. The accident left Michaels with a fractured nose and he later blamed the accident for the brain hemorrhage he experienced a couple months later.

In the lawsuit Michaels argued the Tony Awards producers failed to give him proper stage instructions. The Tony’s claimed they did and that Michaels “Missed his mark.”

None of the allegations matter now though. The attorneys for both parties informed the court they had reached a settlement agreement in principle. The terms are not yet known, but upon this agreement the judge dismissed the action on Monday. Michaels attorney then released the following statement: ”We are pleased to announce that Bret Michaels has reached a settlement of the lawsuit concerning the injuries he sustained at and as a result of the 2009 Tony Awards. The terms of the settlement will not be made public. Bret Michaels would like to thank his fans for their continued support.”
