Channing Tatum

Here is a bit of fascinating film news. Channing Tatum is gearing up to produce and star in an Evel Knieval Bio-Pic. The thirty two year old actor from Alabama has had a banner year. The Vow, 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike were all hits and it can be argued that Channing Tatum is a bona fide star — Making an Evel Knievel bid-pic an interesting choice.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tatum is currently in negotiations to star in and executive produce the movie about the legendary daredevil who captured the imagination of a nation in the 1970s.

The movie will be based on the 2008 book “Life of Evel” by writer Stuart Barker. Knievel, who died in 2007 at the age of 69, made a name for himself with a series of jaw-dropping motorcycle jumps, including a legendary failed attempt to jump across Wyoming’s Snake River Canyon in a steam-powered rocket called the Skycycle X-2.

Here is Life of Evel synopsis, per the publisher: “He’s in the Guinness Book of Records for the most broken bones in a single year. He claimed to have slept with more than 2,000 women. He battled alcoholism and gambling addictions, was jailed for attacking a colleague with a baseball bat, and blew an estimated $60 million fortune. And he became a superstar for repeatedly staring death in the face with his headline-grabbing stunts on his flying motorbike. Evel Knievel was the last great gladiator, an extraordinary thrill-seeker with an even more extraordinary life that endeared him to millions.”

So, who thinks he can pull it off?
