Couples Therapy VH1 Doug Hutchison and Courtney StoddenCouples Therapy 2X07 Recap

On the Last Episode of VH1’s Couple Therapy – The group members focused on childhood trauma, with Alex McCord and Tiny delivering moving stories. The group called out Courtney Stodden when she was unwilling to be genuine about her life experiences. Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden (Dourtney) were asked to leave after 17 year old Courtney refused to follow the dress code for the couple’s therapy house.

Shayne Lamas (The Bachelor) was quick to tear down the red mural that was behind Doug and Kourtney’s bed. Shayne feels that Doug is a “creeper” with a 17 year old girl, and it was best that they left.

Simon van Kempen jumped into the swimming pool in some revealing Speedos. The couples joke that Simon may get kicked out for his inappropriate attire.

Nik Richie dons his “Dourtney is Dead” t-shirt, and everyone loves it. (Since the filming of this episode, the couple, Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden, purchased an Italian Greyhound puppy named “Dourtney.”Dourtney Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden VH1)

Therapist Dr. Jenn Berman meets with the couples, and tells them they have been acting like adolescents towards Doug and Courtney. Dr. Jenn gets emotional that Doug and Courtney are not getting therapy, and that they “fucking” need it! Nik Richie of TheDirty gets called out for his “Dourtney is Dead” t-shirt. And Alex gets called out for shoving money in Courtney’s skimpy outfit.

Simon van Kempen points out that the couples are in the house 24/7 and have to deal with Doug and Courtney, while Jenn is not there all the time. Shayne would like to just let it go, but Dr. Jenn states that they are going to have to talk about it and deal with it.

Nik Richie describes the fact that his website TheDirty does call people out, and perhaps he was behind some of the actions towards Doug and Courtney.

Dr. Jenn Berman states that Doug and Courtney brought some gifts to the group therapy session, and that these “gifts” should not be overlooked.

The couples meet Joan, a widow from Illinois, who tells the story about losing her husband. They met at a young age, had a son and daughter, and had an amazing life together. Joan received a phone call that her husband had fallen and hit his head. He was unconscious. Her husband, Scott, had no idea who Joan was. The doctors reported that he had a rare form of amnesia. Joan reports that it was like her husband was alive, but he was really not since he no longer remembered her.

Scott realized that he loved Joan. When she had to go back to work one day, Scott patiently waited at the back door to greet her. Scott describes it as falling in true love with her.

Dr. Jenn Berman meets with Alex McCord and Alex’s mother. Last week Alex McCord described the day that she found her father dead in his home.

Dr. Berman informs the couples that she is bringing Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden back for couples therapy. Alex McCord states that she feels that there is “hope.” Shayne Lamas is worried about the fact that she tore down the mural behind the bed. As a considerate husband, Nik Richie helps her to put the mural back.

Doug and Courtney return to the house. Courtney is more conservatively dressed.

Next time on VH1 Couples Therapy – Simon van Kempen tells Courtney that he is not comfortable with seeing her sit on Doug’s lap (she is just 17 years old after all). Dr. Berman meets with Courtney Stodden’s mother, Krista Stodden. Her mother reports that there were police officers trying to get a hold of her all the time. Dr. Berman asks Courtney’s mom if she was worried about Courtney having sex, and she states, “no.” Nik Richie and Shayne Lamas go horseback riding and start arguing.
