Josh Stewart Joins Grimm

Grimm: Casts Josh Stewart in Season 2

According to TVLine’s Michael Ausiello, Josh Stewart who played Bane’s second in command in Dark Knight Rises will be guest-starring in a season 2 episode of Grimm. Here’s an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Stewart’s role:

He’ll play Bill, a middle-class dude who moonlights as a Badger-esque creature called a Drang-Zorn.

Stewart is probably best known to TV audiences as JJ’s detective hubby Will onCriminal Minds. His other tube credits include Third Watch, Dirt and No Ordinary Family.

Grimm‘s second season premieres Monday, Aug. 13 at 10/9c. Stewart will turn up in Episode 7.

My thoughts: I loved Josh Stewart in Dark Knight Rises, so I’m really excited about this casting news, especially since Stewart’s character sounds very interesting. I have to say that the more scoop I read on season 2 of Once Upon a Time, the less excited I am about season 2 and the more concerns and complaints that I have about the show in general, while the more news that I hear about Grimm’s second season, the more excited I am for the season to start. Grimm isn’t the best show in the world, but I’m realizing more and more lately that Once Upon a Time isn’t nearly as good as I was expecting it to be before it premiered last fall. I’m thinking about doing a post where I compare and contrast what I think are the strengths and weaknesses of Once Upon a Time and Grimm.

I have say that right now there’s a small part of me that’s starting to prefer Grimm over Once Upon a Time. The main reason why I’m starting to feel this way is because it seems like every guest-star role that’s been announced so far for season 2 of Once Upon a Time on various entertainment news websites over the summer are basically all recurring guest-star roles. Once Upon a Time already has a large cast with quite a few cast members/characters that were very neglected in season 1 and yet they’ve promoted several recurring guest-stars from season 1 to series regular status for season 2. Like I just said, pretty much all of the guest-stars they’ve announced so far are apparently meant to be recurring guest-star roles and not one episode guest-stars. I would probably be okay with that if Once Upon a Time’s cast wasn’t already rather large, but that’s not the case.

As for Grimm, it has a fairly small cast and the writers have been doing a pretty good job of slowly developing each of the characters and the ongoing storylines. Also, almost all of the guest-stars that have been announced so far for Grimm’s second season are meant to be one episode roles, which makes sense since this is basically a crime solving show where they solve one crime in every episode, so I don’t see anything wrong with Grimm announcing so many guest-stars, but I digress. I’ll discuss this more if I write a compare and contrast post for Grimm and Once Upon a Time. That being said, I’m really excited to see Josh Stewart on Grimm.
