Lone Survivor Peter Berg’s pet project Navy Seal film ‘Lone Survivor’ is putting together a stellar cast of young actors. Because of the summer bomb that was Battleship, the production of Peter Berg’s ‘Lone Survivor’ was in serious doubt. Universal pulled its financing, but in the end agreed to distribute which allowed Berg to get private financing for the film.

Mark Wahlberg was first attached to Lone Survivor, and he liked the concept so much he dropped out of Will Ferrell’s comedy Turkey Bowl to commit to it. Soon after Wahlberg was in, Ben Foster and Taylor Kitsch jumped aboard.

Now we have learned that Emile Hirsch is in talks to play Navy Seal Danny Dietz. His presence wouldlone survivor film adaptation add to an already stacked cast of good young actors.

Lone Survivor is an adaptation of the book by Marcus Luttrell (Wahlberg), it tells the harrowing story of how Luttrell and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader. Film 44 partner Sarah Aubrey, Akiva Goldsman, Barry Spikings are producing with Emmett/Furla’s Randall Emmett and George Furla, and Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Though there is no official principle production date set, Peter Berg is looking to release the film in late 2013.
