Jack benderEveryone’s favorite television director, Jack Bender, is heading back to film. Jack Bender been around a while. He directed eleven episodes of Alias, five episodes of The Sopranos, and two of HBO’s Carnival. But he is really know for his work on Lost, where he directed 37 episodes and many of the best.

Well, Jack is back  THR now has word that is Bender is now working on a project called “Devolution,” a thriller he is developing to direct for Legendary (“The Dark Knight Rises,” “Man of Steel” — basically every blockbuster Warner Bros. does). Plot details are being held tightly under wraps – which you should have guessed by the involvement of a “Lost” alum – but it does come from an original idea courtesy of “World War Z” author Max Brooks. Scribe David Leslie Johnson, who has penned “Wrath of the Titans” and a couple of episodes of the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead,” is on scripting duties for this.

Last year, Bender was famously involved in a Jack Ryan Reboot, starring Chris Pine, but walked away this spring when the long, troubled development period started conflicting with his TV commitments. In addition, he was on board to direct 7 Minutes in Heaven for J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, but we haven’t heard much about it in the past couple of years. So Devolution could very well wind up being his first foray into theaters since 1995′s Lone Justice 2.
