First Footage From Carrie

Here is the first look footage of Chloë Grace Moretz in Stephen King’s ‘Carrie.’

A release date has been set for the upcoming film “Carrie”, based on Stephen King’s first published novel of the same name. The news that actress Chloe Moretz (Hugo) would star as Carrie came out in March, and now the official release date for the film is set for March 15, 2013.

King’s novel, published in 1974, tells the story of Carrie, a shy high school girl who, after discovering she possesses certain telekinetic powers, uses said powers to exact revenge on students that had mercilessly teased and picked on her. The remake is being directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) and scripted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Glee, Big Love). The movie is certainly not the first remake of the classic horror story, the most well known version being the 1976 Brian De Palma adapted film, but the upcoming “Carrie” is said to be more of a remake of the original novel than another adaption of the classic 70s film.

Today, we got the first behind the scenes footage from Kimberly Peirce’s (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) version of ‘Carrie.’ As you can see, Chloë Grace Moretz is all grown up. I don’t know why I always point that out when remarking on a child star, I guess it just seems like they grow up so fast because a film starts a year before it comes out and so does the next film, so between films the kid has grown over four years making the change in appearance very noticeable.

In watching this behind the scenes footage, you really get a taste of how awkward filming really is. If you have ever been on a set, you know this. I once saw a club scene shoot and thirty extras were dancing to no music and silent talking as the actors pretended to scream over the music. The actors just bellowed away and I almost turned red watching some of the extras awkwardly dance to no music and lip sync to pretty women they just meet who were doing the same. It was a shock to me. That is why I have always respected actors. They all have more guts than the average person. It’s tough to be that vulnerable in a staged situation. It takes real getting used to. that’s why naturals, like Carrie’s Chloë Grace Moretz are so rare and hard to find. Carrie also stars Julianne Moore, and Judy Greer. Check out the footage below
