Fox News Suicide Airs Live AccidentallyFox News Accidentally Airs Suicide Live On TV Today

Fox News was airing a live car chase near Phoenix, Arizona today. While showing the car chase live, they decided to go on a 5 second delay after the carjacker left the car, a red Dodge Caliber, in a field in Tonopah, Arizona. Unfortunately the suicide was not cut, and it aired on live television.

Shepard Smith stated that Fox News had decided to put the tape on a 5 second delay, but that they had really messed up by not cutting it in time.  Viewers were shocked to witness a suicide happen in real time. Shepard Smith kept shouting to cut the tape, but, sadly, it continued to air. The audience watched as the man shot himself in the head and fell face first into the ground.

Shepard Smith stated, “We really messed up, and we are all very sorry. That didn’t belong on TV. We took every precaution we knew how to take from that being on TV, and I personally apologize to you that that happened. Sometimes we see a lot of things that we don’t let get to you, because it’s not time appropriate, it’s insensitive, it’s just wrong.”

Smith goes on to say, “that was wrong. And that won’t happen again on my watch, and I’m sorry.”

A car had been hijacked in Phoenix, Arizona, and then a car chase ensued, with speeds going up to 110 MPH. Eventually the carjacker got out of the car with a handgun in hand. He acted rather erratically, stumbling all over. It appeared that he was under the influence of some sort of drug. He then held the gun to his head and shot himself on live television.
