Gregg Henry joins ABC Scandal Hungs Gregg Henry and Jillian Armenante are jointing the cast of ABC’s drama, ‘Scandal.’

The Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal, debuted on April 5th on ABC. It’s Kerry Washington’s big TV break as she is the bonafide lead star of the show. Kerry has had a fine career, don’t get me wrong, but Scandal is her first real vehicle. In the show she plays Olivia Pope, a woman who dedicates her life to protecting the public images of the nation’s elite and making sure their secrets never get out.

Gregg Henry and Jillian Armenante are not joining the regular cast out of the gate. New additions rarely do, but recurring roles like these two actors have gained in Scandal, often turn into regular roles. i.e. Michael Emerson who was originally booked for a four episode story arch in Lost, that turn into, in his words, “A character actors dream and the role of a lifetime.”

Greg Henry will play Jackson, an older, big money Southern guy who is smart and warm unless you cross him. Armenante, currently seen in Dark Knight Rises, will play the role of Lucas described as smart, well spoken and brash.

I have to say, I am a fan of Gregg Henry. He’s one of those actors who brilliantly plays real every day dudes. He has hair plugs, is a bit out of shape, not overly handsome, like so man guys on TV, but not ugly — a regular guy. That has afforded him tons of guest star appearances. He’s guest starred on too many shows to count, but here are a few: White Collar, Breakout Kings, NCIS, Burn Notice, Harry’s Law, CSI: Miami — and that is all since 2010 mind you. He started his career in the late 70′s and literally has over a 100 credits.
