NBC's The New Normal, Casting Scoop! The New Normal: Halloween related casting scoop

Here’s some scoop on The New Normal from Carina Adly MacKenzie’s Monday Kickstart column for the week of 10/1/12.

The New Normal

A little behind-the-scenes fun! Ryan Murphy sent out a casting notice looking for a long-haired six-year-old girl… to play a six-year-old boy. Later, the casting notice was amended — we suppose they didn’t get many parents chomping at the bit for that role. Now, they’re looking for a “VERY effeminate” (their words and emphasis, not ours) boy to play the role of Ian’s (Erik Weiner)’s son Henry, a boy who wants to dress as a fairy for Halloween.

The New Normal was keeping pass early in the season, but in episode four, the show lost one million week-to-week viewers. That’s a major drop off and my guess is that it may just be one of those anomalies.  The series premiere was watched by 6.88 million viewers and episode 2 and 3 were both watched by over 6 million people. Last weeks episode was only watched by 5.09 million. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the new ratings tomorrow morning.
