Hugh LaurieWith FOX’s ‘House’ coming to an end, Hugh Laurie needs to find some new work. Well, he may have found it. Hugh Laurie is in talks with MGM to play the villain in the already star  studded film, ‘RoboCop.’

We already know the great up-and-comer Joel Kinnaman has the title role, but also jointing him is Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Abbie Cornish. What seemed like a silly idea at first, is shaping up to be a highly anticipated reboot of a hooky classic. Robocop might be back and better than ever.

Total Film reports, Hugh Laurie‘s role sounds as though it will be an equivalent to the character played by Ronny Cox in Paul Verhoeven’s original film, although they are unlikely to be exact counterparts.

Like Verhoeven’s original, Padilha’s Robocop centers around Detroit police officer Alex Murphy (Kinnaman), who’s murdered on duty and remade into the unstoppable cyborg of the title. Laurie’s character is described as the extremely wealthy head of the insidious company that creates him for their own benefit.

The film is set to hit theaters on August 9, 2013. That’s if everything in principle production goes as planned.  Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay. Stay tune for more information.
