Hunger Games Disaster? Pattinson Addresses Finnick Odair Rumors

Hunger Games

Hunger GamesI smell a Hunger Games disaster. The Huffington Post and Think McFly Think are reporting that Lionsgate Studio is “chasing” Robert Pattinson as Hunger Games fan favorite Finnick Odair.

This would be a fucking disaster of massive proportions. It would root The Hunger Games into the stream of Twilight, something hardcore Hunger Games fans have been fighting back against since the announcement of the first film.

Yes, it’s just a rumor, but there is validity to the clam. You see, the new director Francis Lawrence, who is replacing Gary Ross for ‘Catching Fire,’ worked with Pattinson on ‘Water For Elephants,’ and gushed over the actors performance and attitude on set.

I’m a Hunger Games man, young man, I’m 28. But I have read all the books and would be severely discouraged about the direction of this franchise if Robert Pattinson is cast as Odair.

In a statement to The Huffington Post, a Lionsgate rep said,  ”As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting any casting rumors for this title.” What an ominous sign.

The film doesn’t need Pattinson’s star power. The first film was a hit and the second will be even bigger. I have always begged for a new face. A fresh face heart throb who can breath some new life into the industry. Finick Odair is a star making part, not a vessel for an already famous actor. If Robert Pattinson gets the part I may have to boycott. What a terrible idea.

Filming for “Catching Fire” starts this summer and will be in theaters on November 22, 2013. I’ll keep you posted. But in the mean time say a little prayer for me, “God please don’t let Robert Pattinson ruin The Hunger Games.”

Pattinson addressed the rumors himself during the Cannes film festival. Pattinson said that he initially believed the rumors but his agent said that they weren’t true.

Pattinson said:

”I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games. I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. My agent was like, ‘No. No one’s going to offer you that part.’ I was like, ‘Thanks for the reassurance.’”

All’s I can say is, “Thank God.” Pattinson is a GOOD actor who is coming into his own, but after the success of Twilight, this would have been a terrible miscasting of Finnick Odair. So the search continues and more Hunger Games rumors are sure to be abound. Making it all the more fun
