James Badge Dale

James Badge DaleThe Iron Man 3 cast is filling out nicely. As everyone knows Robert Downey Jr. will be back as Tony Stark AKA Iron Man. Joining him is Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle who return as Pepper Potts and Lt. Col. James Rupert Rhodes respectively.

New to the party are Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, and Shane Black who wrote the screenplay and is taking over for Jon Favreau behind the lens. Shane Blacks last film was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. A nice little film that aided the comeback of Robert Downey Jr. back in 2005. Shane Black is also an accomplished writer. He penned Lethal Weapon in 1987 at the age of 25.

Wednesday Iron Man 3 got another new kid off the block. James Badge Dale has been cast as U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Eric Savin, aka Coldblood. Many people didn’t like AMC’s Rubicon, but it has done wonders for James Badge Dale’s career. Since returning to acting in 2002, 12 years after he made his feature film debut in Lord of the Flies, Dale has been relegated to TV. He worked a season of 24, made guest appearances in Law and Order and CSI. He flopped in The Black Donnellys and had a bit part in The Departed. But now He’s mega money. He played opposite Michael Fassbender in Shame last year, got killed in The Grey, is in World War Z with Brad Pitt and currently filming The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Armie Hammer.

His career has come full circle. He is no longer the little actor who could. I don’t necessarily look at James Badge Dale as a viable leading man, but the man can act. If he stays in his lane, he should have steady work in Hollywood for the next ten years. At the end of the day, that’s all you can ask for.
