Katy Perry Part of Me 3DKaty Perry opens up on today’s Ellen show about her new film ‘Katy Perry Part Of Me 3D.’

In an interview with Ellen that airs today, Katy Perry talks about many of the struggles in her life, and how she decided to potray those struggles in the movie “Katy Perry Part of Me 3D.”

Ellen states during the interview, “you shot the good, the bad… who knows what’s going to happen in your life when you start shooting things.”

She asks Katy Perry whether or not the break up with Russell Brand was portrayed in the movie, and Katy replied, “I thought it was important, for me, to show everything in between. I think, sometimes, people think that we are perfect, and we know that we are not perfect at all… so that’s why I decided to put everything into the film, in the most tasteful way.”

Katy points out that the main focus of the film is how she got to where she is today.  Ellen states, “but what people don’t know is what you’ve gone through even to get to that point.” Katy explains how she was dropped from three record labels prior to reaching her current success. She states that she faced a lot of “NO’s” on her way up. Katy’s family was 100% Christian, and she began her singing career in church. Her first record was Gospel music.

Katy Perry states, “For me growing up, it was like overcoming my family situation of me being sheltered, and not being able to listen to secular music… a lot of people wanted me to be ‘like’ someone, whether it was a Kelly Clarkson or Avril Lavigne.” Katy Perry always just wanted to be herself, and she had to prove that to everyone. The industry wanted her to fit into some type of “mold.”
