Kyrie Irving may have starred in one of the best advertisements I have ever seen. It was brilliant from start to finish, though it may have been staged. But who cares, it was a great watch and great market ploy by Pepsi Max.
NBA rookie of the year and Duke alumni Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to pull an Eddie Murphy and suit up as an old man named “Uncle Buck.” Then he went down to a down town cleveland city basketball court and put on a display of incredible skill after luring the other hoopers on the court to sleep with poor play.
Kyrie Irving missed lay-ups, bricked shots and fumbled the ball out of bounds before putting his foot on the gas and taking over the court. Kyrie Irving, as ‘Uncle Buck,’ than began to knock down three pointers from thirty feet out, crossed over four or five guys and even threw an alley pop to himself off the back board and dunked it home like power.
The video has gone viral and as amassed aver 2 million hits this week. I guess I was late to the party, but it was worth the wait. This Kyrie Irving commercial belongs in the hall of fame along with some of Michael Jordan’s, Mean Joe Green and some of Kobe Bryant’s Nike adverts.
