Laurence Fishburne Cast as Agent Jack Crawford in Hannibal

Laurence Fishburne will play the role of Jack Crawford in NBC's HannibalIs an awesome piece of casting news, Laurence Fishburne has joined Bryan Fuller’s new show Hannibal over at NBC. The show, based on the characters from Author Thomas Harris, already has some really good talent. In fact, the casting of Hannibal isn’t just good in my opinion, its great. Mads Mikkelsen’s name came out of no where, but when I heard he was cast as Hannibal Lecter, I said, ‘Bang. Perfect casting choice.!” It actually validated the development of the show for me.

Hannibal also added Hugh Dancy, a nice young actor who plays FBI profiler Will Graham as he first encounters the brilliant, cannibal psychiatrist and gets to know him, perhaps through a charming musical montage?

Laurence Fishburne will play the role of  Agent Jack Crawford that has been played by Dennis Farina in “Manhunter,” Scott Glenn in “The Silence of the Lambs,” and Harvey Keitel in “Red Dragon.” Crawford is the Agent-in-Charge of the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI in Quantico, Virginia. The character is actually modeled after John E. Douglas, who held the same position.

Jack Crawford is typically portrayed as sympathetic towards his FBI profilers. Yet, he has become distant due to failing health and his powerlessness against the corrupt bureaucrats set to destroy him.

Man, Hold on to your hats ladies and gents, this show could get interesting. And boy-o-boy NBC is in desperate need for a new hit show.
