‘Magic Mike’ Movie Review: “My mouth did fall open at that very first scene and knew that this movie would cater to basically every woman’s fantasy.”
Being a wife and mother to three children, I must admit that when I saw the previews for ‘Magic Mike,’ I had already envisioned my weekend away from my husband and kids. I will admit that I went into ‘Magic Mike‘ with zero expectations and this movie fulfilled my expectations. I have never really been a fan of the male review, but was curious if male strippers were as “cheesy” as I had previously thought. As I sat down with my girlfriend, I looked around the theatre and watched the crowd of females eagerly heading to their seats. As the theatre got dark, you could hear the giggles from every row. Once the movie started, we were graced with Channing Tatum’s character Mike. The ladies went wild, screaming and cheering. I will safely say that my mouth did fall open at that very first scene and knew that this movie would cater to basically every woman’s fantasy.
Unfortunately, I will probably be the only woman that has seen this movie that was not really impressed. I will not discredit the amazing choreography that “Mike” had in the film and it is easy to see how that character attracted so many fans to this movie. I would have preferred that ’Magic Mike‘ be more based on “Mike’s” struggles and his life rather than “the kid.” I will say that I was disappointed in the choices of the older men in the movie. They all brought some thing to the movie, I just don’t know what that some thing is. I will say this was the perfect role for Matthew McConaughey who repeats his famous catch phrase, “alright, alright, alright” throughout the movie and allows him to be the carefree spirit that most of get from his persona.
In my own opinion, I would wait until ‘Magic Mike’ comes out on Netflix
