Lucky fans were treated to the first footage of Man of Steel at Comic-Con on Saturday, while the first poster from the film was also unveiled.
The shadowy image gives only a glimpse of Cavill as Superman, with the iconic S logo the most prominent feature of the shot.
Director Zach Snyder opened up about the difficulties of rebooting the famous franchise, revealing that he has decided not to use the original music in an effort to distance Man Of Steel from the previous Superman films.
‘We had to act as if no film has been made. When we approached it, we had to say “this is Superman for the first time and you can’t say, “Oh, now let’s steal a little music,” he smiled. ’So yes, it’s awesome music but Hans (Zimmer) is going to do something awesome.’
Of the Trailer, that will be attached to The Dark Knight Rises, one news site reports ’Man of Steel seems to be a film in very much in the Nolan/”Batman Begins” mold and it also looks like Snyder is dampening down his trademark style that’s had a few, rather breathless, we’d advance, commentators compare the footage to that of Terrence Malick. Tonally, the film also seems to suggest a more realistic Superman, with larger questions abounding about what would be the political response by America if it were faced with such an ultimate weapon like the Man of Steel. ‘
For those that don’t know, “Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill as Superman in the film from director Zack Snyder. The film also stars three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) and Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”).
Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”). Rounding out the cast are Harry Lennix as U.S. military man General Swanwick, as well as Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.
“Man of Steel” is being produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer and Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Comics. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers. “Man of Steel” is slated for release on June 14, 2013 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros.
