Its been speculated for almost a year now. You could argue its been one of the worst-kept secrets in the business, but Marvel today confirmed that the mysterious ‘Untitled 2014 Movie’ is in fact Guardians of The Galaxy.
At the studio’s Hall H presentation on Saturday at Comic Con, Marvel Studios officially confirmed that ”Guardians of the Galaxy” is on its way to the big screen with a release date of August 1, 2014. The cast lineup includes Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, Gamorra, Groot and Star Lord.
When it was revealed that ”Guardians of the Galaxy” would be the next Marvel movie to go into production after “Captain America 2,” people all across the internet simultaneously proclaimed: “Who?” Although the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be as popular as the Avengers or the X-Men, their inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe adds a heaping helping of the much needed sci-fi component that’s so prevalent in the comic books.
But who are the Guardians of the Galaxy and what do they do exactly? Well, they’re an intergalactic team of alien beings tasked with the sole purpose of defending the galaxy from any and all cosmic threats that may arise. Founded by Star-Lord (a half-alien/half-human space hero), the Guardians of the Galaxy are tasked with proactively protecting the galaxy from peril, as opposed to reacting to crises as they occur. Joining Star-Lord in his seemingly endless quest are Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, and Adam Warlock, all three of whom share a direct connection with Thanos, who has a rumored role to play in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie. So, there you have it. You can find out a lot more about the ”Guardians of the Galaxy” by searching it on Google.
Kevin Fiege also confirmed that Ben Kingsley is playing the supervillain, The Mandarin, in ‘Iron Man 3.’ The third installment in the hit ‘Iron Man’ series, which has earned over $1.2 billion worldwide, returns Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Marvel’s The Avengers) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) as Happy Hogan. The likes of Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Guy Pearce are all linked to roles in the film. ‘Iron Man’ arrives in cinemas May 3th, 2013.
