Matrix Director Larry Wachowski Has Sex Change is Now Lana Wachowski

Now I know why they aren’t called the Wachowski Brothers anymore. Maybe I’m last to hear about this or maybe I’m not, but Larry Wachowski is now Lana Wachowski.

The Matrix director has spent the last ten years under going a sex change. I knew Wachowski was choosing to wear feminine clothing and growing her hair out, but I didn’t realize she had undergone a full sex change.

One of  the most influential directors in Hollywood  in the late 90′s and early 2000′s, Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski, has been undergoing hormone therapy. In a recent interview, Wachowski said, ‘Hi, I’m Lana.’ It is the first time ‘Larry’ has appeared publicly as ‘Lana,’ according to the Daily Mail.

The Wachowski’s are promoting there new, highly anticipated science fiction film, ‘Cloud Atlas,’ based on British author David Mitchell’s hit which features six interlocking stories that take place from the beginning of the 1800′s into the far off future.

Cloud Atlas has an all-star cast featuring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent, just to name a few.

I’m a straight guy who has been living in LA for the last six years and so this is nothing new to me. I could care less and am in favor of Gay marriage. Make great movies and I’ll by the ticket and BluRay.

In fact, I think transgenders are brave people. It must have taken a lot of courage for Lana Wachowski to come out to The Toronto International Film Festival with pink hair as her true self.  Wachowski can’t be under the illusion that it would be easy or that everyone would except her full makeover.

You have to remember she has had relationships in the media for 15 years now, and she was formally married to a woman as a man. So, even though Wachowski’s sexual orientation has been speculated if not known over the last 5 years by most journalists, the pink hair and name change must have been relatively surprising for more than one veteran film reporter.
