Last month, Michael Bay announced via his official website that his “Transformers” leading lady, Megan Fox, was going to play April O’Neil in his upcoming reboot of the beloved “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Bay is producing the film, which will be directed by Jonathan Liebsman. Liebsman has previously directed films such as “Battle: Los Angeles”, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning”, and “Wrath of the Titans”. In this past year, Fox had a hilarious supporting role in Judd Apatow’s “This is 40″. She has also starred in movies such as “Transformers”, “Friends With Kids”, and “Jennifer’s Body”.

Today it was revealed that the first of the four turtles has been cast. Alan Ritchson, who plays Gloss in the upcoming sequel to “The Hunger Games”, will play Raphael. He is best known for his portrayal of Thad Castle in the TV series “Blue Mountain State” which ended in November of 2011.

The reboot has received a large amount of criticism after it was announced that the four turtles are not mutants, but rather aliens. There was also much talk about the quality of the script, which was somehow leaked to multiple fan sites. Michael Bay responded through his website, saying, “The leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project. That script saw the shredder a long time ago.” The new screenplay was written by Josh Applebaum and André Nemec. The duo also created TV series including ‘October Road’, ‘Life on Mars’, and ‘Happy Town’. In 2011, they penned the screenplay for the hugely successful, “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”.

Ninja Turtles” is set to be released on June 6, 2014.
