Michael K. WilliamsMichael K. Williams, the forty-five-year-old man who made the name Omar Little infamous on HBO’s The Wire, has joined Steve McQueen’s,  ’12 Years a Slave.’

Based on a true story, TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE is a riveting account of a free black man kidnapped from New York and sold into brutal slavery in mid-1850s Louisiana, and the inspiring story of his desperate struggle to return home to his family.

The Director of the film, Steve McQueen is best known for ‘Shame,’ the sexual addiction film starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. However, his directorail debut was the 2008 drama, ‘Hunger.’ Hunger was about the 1981 Irish hunger strike, and it to starred Michael Fassbender.

Michael K. Williams is joining a steller cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Williams will play a mutinous slave in the New Regency adaptation of Solomon Northup’s 1853 book. Stay tune for more details. This is going to be an exciting film. I’m looking forward to covering it.
