New Behind-The-Scenes Featurette For Tom Hooper's ‘Les Misérables’

Here’s a fantastic behind-the-scenes Featurette From Tom Hopper’s Les Misérables.

The whole thing is kind of grand and elegant, mostly because the Les Misérables has always been billed that way, and so when you insert the broadway music and look at these classic characters played by Hugh Jackman Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, you become thrilled. I guess I’m saying, whom ever cut this featurette should get a standing ovation.

This film has been done so many times. I think there have been something like 30 filmed versions of Les Miserables, but these filmmakers are not lying when they say its never been done like this before. It is a truly amazing fact that Tom Hopper and the actors are singing the musical film live. Nothing will be dubbed — so they say. Look, some audio will be dropped in editing, and ADR will be needed. That’s not a knock, it’s a fact. Even the greatest directors of all time call their actors back into the studio to do additional voice recording. Still, if 95% of it is live, that is one hell of a feat. By the way, it was revealed yesterday that Tom Hopper’s Les Misérables has been pushed back and will be released on christmas Day in the States.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
