New Images From Stephenie Meyer Adaptation The Host

Written by Alexander Tucker   // 06/15/2012

Saoirse RonanI was speaking with one of our writers yesterday, she’s an avid reader, and she revealed her indifference for Stephenie Meyer’s, ‘Twilight Series.’ But she praised The Host and said it was a far better, more mature and interesting read. I trust her advice and look forward to Director Andrew Niccol’s adaptation.

There’s more than just a good book review that gets me excited about this picture. Her name is Saoirse Ronan. I believe the eighteen-year-old actress from the Bronx is the real deal. What an actress. Since Saoirse Ronan breakout role in Atonement, I have registered her as the best young actress in Hollywood. Yes, she has made few blunders in her career. Most notable, City of Ember. But lets be fair,  Saoirse Ronan was still underage when the role was offered to her and who knows what agency of manager  pushed her into that debacle. With that said, go watch Saoirse Ronan in The Lovely Bones or Hanna. The girl can flat out get it done on the big screen.

Her latest project, and the subject of this post is Saoirse Ronan new film, The Host.

The Host, is about alien beings from another planet have invaded the earth and have begun to take over the bodies and minds of humans. Melanie Stryder’s body has been inhabited by one of the “souls” named Wanderer, but she refuses to fade away. Wanderer starts to see Melanie’s memories, where she sees her loved ones and eventually finds a connection with them, too. Melanie is “trapped” inside Wanderer’s mind, speaking to her mentally, when both decide to set off and find their loved ones.

I look forward to this film that stars Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel,William Hurt, Diane Kruger. Look for it in theaters March 29th, 2013.
