The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight RisesHere’s a ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Hong Kong TV-Spot. It may or may not contain new footage, I don’t know. I’m not like some of these guys who watch each one of the 20 TV-Spots frame-by-frame. The Dark Knight Rises TV-Spot certainly doesn’t provide any new dialogue that I’m aware of, but I like the sequencing of this particular TV Spot, and have decided to post it.

To be honest, the shock and awe of TV spots and Trailers from The Dark Knight Rises is behind me. The first Trailer hit just before Christmas. I look forward to a few clips dropping online soon, but other than that, I just want to see the film. We have seen the pictures and stills, we know the locations, and storyline. It is time to see the movie.

The Dark Knight Rises‘ may have began its marketing campaign a little too early. Or maybe, after The Amazing Spider-Man, you just wonder why they didn’t move The Dark knight Rises to Thanksgiving Day or a Christmas Day Release.

Look, the timing will never be an indictment of the film. The film will be great. I bet it will be my favorite film of the summer. I like the dark drama of DC’s Batman more than the witty charm of Marvel. So yes, I will probably like it more than The Avengers. That’s just a guess, but I know myself pretty well. I have been living with myself for 29 years.

What’s my (finale) point? I don’t like it when big summer films hit theaters towards the end of summer. It feels awkward in someway. The excitement of the summer movie season is wrapping up. Hell, MY Philadelphia Eagles will opening training camp the same weekend the film comes out (July 20th, 2012). Football training camp has always felt like the beginning of the end of summer to me, and the beginning of the end is never the time to get excited for something, it’s a time to begin reflecting.

Who knows? I live in Santa Monica where the temperature only changes late in the winter, when it drops down below 50 degrees. Maybe in the middle of the country The Dark Knight Rises will still feel like a summer blockbuster, but it won’t feel like that to me.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy,Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, and Marion Cotillard.
