Wreck-It Ralph

Walt Disney Pictures has debuted a new clip for Wreck-It Ralph. The new film features the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch.

He’s bad, and that’s not good. At least that’s what the Hulk-size video-game villain believes as he suffers an identity crisis in Wreck-It Ralph, Disney’s 52nd animated feature powering up in theaters Nov. 2, 2012.

Reilly, 47, is no stranger to Ralph’s universe. “In the early ’80s, when my expendable income were the quarters in my pocket, I played such first-generation games as Space InvadersAsteroids and Donkey Kong,” he says.

He compares his character’s situation to basketball superstar Michael Jordan’s sudden decision to try baseball in the early ’90s. “We all thought, ‘Michael, what are you doing? You have to come back.’ The same thing happens with Ralph. He is the greatest guy at destroying things ever, but then he heads off to be a soldier in a first-person shooter game.”

Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) is the 9-foot-tall, 643-pound villain of an arcade video game named Fix-It Felix Jr., in which the game’s titular hero (voiced by Jack McBrayer) fixes buildings that Ralph destroys. Wanting to prove he can be a good guy and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through the power cord and lands in Hero’s Duty, a first-person shooter where he helps the game’s hero, Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch), battle against “Cy-Bugs”, the game’s alien invaders. He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) one of the game’s characters, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.
