Newest TV spot from ‘The Dark Knight Rises”

Christian BaleHere is the newest TV spot from ‘The Dark Knight Rises,” and a startling admission from its star Christian Bale.

In this TV-Spot we find two old colleagues chatting it up. One of them is “Retired,” and the other one just wants to show the “Retired” one some stuff anyway, “Just for old time’s sake.”

The two colleagues are Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman). We even get a little humor here. This from a movie that has been painted in morose darkness and despair for six months.  It’s nice to know Batman can still laugh. He has done it so infrequently over the past two films.

In other Dark Knight Rises news today, Christian Bale isn’t ruling out a fourth installment of his occupation of Batman. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Bale said, ”My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it’s appropriate, I think it’s going out at the right time. But…if Chris came to me with a script and said, ‘You know what? There is another story’ then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work.”

How intriguing. How great is that? I always thought Bale was the one who was walking away from the $20m gig, not Christopher Nolan. I guess I assumed Nolan would push for another film, but at some point was told by Bale that he wanted to concentrate on other things. Then again, we sometimes forget that it’s the director who is on edge for ten months while making an epic film like The Dark Knight Rises. He is the one who has to be on set everyday single f’ing day. While the actors end up spending half the time in their trailers.

Possible Spoiler: There have been rumors that Batman dies in the end of this film, but again they are only rumors. So, the clever Christian Bale could be taking us all for a ride with that quote, knowing HIS Batman is already dead and only a prequel with a much younger actor would return the series to the big screen. Who knows? We will all find out, July 20th… Well, some of us will find out sooner.
