Parks and Rec in Washington

It’s Official: Parks and Rec Heads to Washington–Which Real-Life Politicians Will Appear?

-

According to TVLine’s Kimberly Roots, season 5 of Parks and Recreation will be featuring several U.S. senators who will be appearing on the show as themselves as a part of Leslie and Ben’s storyline in Washington D.C. Here’s an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on what senators will be appearing on the show and how they will involved with the show:

-

As we first told you a few weeks ago, some of the NBC comedy’s forthcoming fifth season will take place in Washington, D.C. We can now add that U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (California), John McCain (Arizona) and Olympia Snowe (Maine) will play themselves when they appear at a D.C. cocktail party attended by Ben (Adam Scott) and Leslie (Amy Poehler).

-

In a twist at the end of Parks’ Season 4, political strategist Ben accepted a position with a national campaign – a career boost for him but a possible sticking point in his and Leslie’s love story.

-

While we can’t see Ms. Knope packing it up and leaving Pawnee for good, our original intel was that Ben’s Washington stint might last a while – and as such, the show planned to go on location to shoot footage that could be used in the Sept. 20 opener and beyond. The D.C.-shot, senator-stuffed episode is slated to air Sept. 27; who knows what other Beltway bounty Ben’s new gig will bring?

-

My thoughts: I have say that I personally think it’s really cool that the show will be filming scenes in Washington, D.C. for Leslie and Ben’s storyline in season 5. The fact that the show is going to be featuring actual U.S. senators who will be playing themselves on the show will definitely help the storyline seem even more authentic, at least I hope it does. One thing is for sure though, it sounds like season 5 of Parks and Recreation is going to be awesome.
