According to Scarlett Johansson will play Maggie The Cat in a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Cat On A Hot Tin Roof,  A revival is in the works for spring, 2013. The film version was famously played by Elizabeth Taylor in one of my favorite films, the 1958 version directed by Richard Brooks. According to the New York Times, Jeremy Renner and Chris Pine are being considered for the role of Brick. Paul Newman played the role in the 1958 version. Johansson won a Tony for another revival, A View From The Bridge, opposite Liev Schreiber  in 2010.

The Pulitzer Prize winning Drama, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is about a glorified football star named Brick who is struggling with the male love of his fallen friend lost to a suicide. Meanwhile his wife Maggie The Cat is trying to hold her marriage to Brick together, as his depression and drinking worsen while they stay at Brick’s terminally ill fathers massive estate in Louisiana. That’s my quick take of the play anyways. Of course with any Tennessee Williams play, there are many more plot lines woven through out the story then that. Read more about the play here.
