Sneak Peek and Debut Poster For USA’s Political Animals

Let’s be frank, USA is killing the competition. Last year The USA Network was the No.1 cable network in America. So, anytime a new show is on the horizon, I pay attention.

Well, technically Political Animals isn’t a show, it’s a six episode mini-series. However, if it performs well, who knows.

The story is about Elaine Barrish, a former First Lady and current Secretary of State (sound familiar), who finds herself recently divorced, and must deal with State Department issues while trying to keep her family together.

Political Animals was created by Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark. Berlanti is know for his work on Dawson’s Creek and Brothers and Sisters, and Mark is a veteran with too many credits to list, but here’s a couple you may recognize: Working Girl EP, Jerry Maguire EP, Dreamgirls EP. The guys been around the block a few times.

Sigourney Weaver is the lead here. She portrays Elaine Barrish, the divorced former First Lady and the current Secretary of State. Political Animals also stars, Carla Gugino, James Wolk, Ellen Burstyn, and Sebastian Stan.

It looks like a nice little show. It hits the airwaves on July 15, 2012, and will run a new episode every week. Here is the a sneak peek and the debut poster, which USA released today.
