Gambit Trailer

Slick and stylish New trailer of  Michael Hoffman’s ‘Gambit.’ The film stars Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman. The screenplay was written by Ethan and Joel Coen.

Turns out the film is another remake from the adaption minds of the Coen brothers. You may remember they also remade the 1960 version of True Grit. Well, the original ‘Gambit‘ was made in 1966. My guess? The Coen Brothers enjoy remaking old films they admired as kids. I think every filmmaker has had that urge about one movie or another.

An art curator decides to seek revenge on his abusive boss by conning him into buying a fake Monet, but his plan requires the help of an eccentric and unpredictable Texas rodeo queen.

Right off the bat, I can tell you something I like about Cameron Diaz in this trailer, she’s back to her old self here. I loved Cameron Diaz in A Life Less Ordinary, My Best Friends Wedding, and Being John Malkovich. She played characters in all those films. When Beautiful actresses become extremely successful, most of the have the urge to play themselves in real life — taking leads in films about beautiful successful woman. It’s a turn off man. The line between reality and fiction becomes too blurred. In Gambit, Diaz’s PJ Puznowski is a characters, completely different from Diaz in real life. What else would you expect from a film written by the Coen Brothers. Check out the trailer below. The film will be released in 2013.
