Here’s the first Trailer from The Iceman Starring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, James Franco, Ray Liotta and Chris Evans.

You may remember a little HBO documentary about a decade back called The Iceman. In this documentary Richard ‘The Iceman‘ Kuklinski talked about killing over 100 people like you and I talk about the weather or L.A. Dodgers. He’d say sociopathic fucked up things like, “Yea, we dismembered the body beneath the bar, but he was a fat man, and so we had to go get a bigger saw and I had to miss my kids soccer game. I was upset about missing the game.” The guy is a whack job, a real sociopath, a real old school hitman. When I was 16 years old, the guy scared the stuffing out of me.

 A Psychological Look At The Iceman Movie

On a softer note, while watching this great trailer, I couldn’t help but think, Oh, that Michael Shannon! Is he finally getting his days in the sun? You will probably counter with, he’s already in the light and in the Hollywood sun. Wrong. Yes, he’s recognizable, but ask a fair weather film fan who he is and 50% will guess without really knowing. Would they recognize him — defiantly, but that’s my point. Michael Shannon is always playing second fiddle or leading select theater indie’s that never get played in theaters in middle America.

I hope this is a breakout leading role for Shannon. God knows, he’s put in the work. He has earned it the hard way. Never forget, he got his start in films like Groundhogs Day and Tigerland. He’s been around since the mid 90′s doing bit parts here and there. He is anything but manufatured, but a real actor who fought for every Hollywood inch he’s ever got.
