‘The Walking Dead,’ Season 3 Trailer

Written by Alexander Tucker   // 07/14/2012

The Walking DeadI don’t care what anyone says, television is  light years better than it was just ten years ago and shows like The Walking Dead are proof of that. While watching this new season three Walking Dead trailer, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the footage. I looked down at the ticker and saw that the trailer was over four minutes long, and in an instant, it was over. The Walking Dead in so cinematic. What a fantastic show.

So what can we expect from season 3? Well, season 3 will feature the introduction of one of the most formidable villains on the AMC series: The Governor (David Morrissey), a character from Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels who is the vicious leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors.

Several recurring cast members are set to return as well as other new antagonists and protagonists. Melissa McBride portrays Carol Peletier, a former victim of domestic abuse who is now the last surviving member of her family. Iron E Singleton portrays Theodore “T-Dog” Douglas, a well-intentioned but clumsy survivor who struggles to prove his worth to the group. Scott Wilson portrays Hershel Greene, a religious man and trained veterinarian who owned a ranch where the group had stayed before it was overrun by walkers. Emily Kinney portrays Beth Greene, Hershel’s emotionally troubled youngest daughter. Michael Rooker portrays Merle Dixon, an unruly Southern redneck and older brother to Daryl. Merle had gone missing in the middle of the first season where he lost his hand. Oh, and Danai Gurira will portray Michonne, the hooded figure that saves Andrea in the season two finale and a prominently featured character in the comic series.

Look, I know the series was criticized last season for being slow, but there was a method to the madness. There is a means to the end. The Walking Dead isn’t Chuck or Burn Notice. You can’t expect a new action packed storyline every episodes. The Walking Dead is a detailed story with one path. Be patient and it will payoff.
