Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon Will Play Brothers In The Long Red Road

Written by Alexander Tucker   // 08/16/2012

Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon Join The Long Red RoadTwo of the finest actors of the last five years of coming together in The Long Red Road.

Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon will recreate the stage version, written by Brett C. Leonard, for the big screen.

Tom Hardy has actually played the part before on stage and he will be reprising his role as Sam, a man chasing his demons with the bottle who has to take a hard look at himself and his past, when a visitor rolls into the Indian reservation on which he lives. As for Shannon, he’ll play Sam’s older brother.

The Long Red Road is described as ‘a very bleak story steeped in misery. It could certainly be a welcome adult drama that could win big come awards season.’

Interestingly enough Philip Seymour Hoffman directed Tom Hardy in the stage version of The Long Red Road. There is no word yet on who will direct the film for the big screen.
