Two New Action Packed Trailers From Skyfall

Written by Alexander Tucker   // 07/31/2012

The most anticipated film of the Fall is ‘Skyfall.’ The main reason outside of the whole Daniel Craig and James Bond 007 mystique, which is pretty great, is director Sam Mendes. He’s a great filmmaker who is often over shadowed because he does a lot of think pieces like American Beauty and Revolutionary Road.

He hans’t made any grand adventure films like the Spielberg’s of the world. The closest thing to it was Road to Perdition, but that is an elegant film about a boy and the memory of his father. As for Jarhead, that was a film about the soldiers psyche, not the soldiers experience in combat.

Skyfall is going to change all of that because to me it was never a question of weather Sam Mendes could execute an epic action film like Skyfall, it just seemed to be his personal choice not to. So, I say, ‘welcome to the mainstream Mr. Mendes.’ This will easily be the highest grossing film of his already fantastic career.

Another quick thing, I love what they have done with James Bond. He has become human. There is talk in these trailers about him losing a step, hitting the wall, suggestions that he is getting old. I love that take. The thing about Bond is, we all know he will win in the end. So the suspense must be dictated to us and images of James Bond missing the center of the target should create that type of suspense.

In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. SKYFALL marks the return of Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007, as well as Judi Dench reprising her role as M. The film also stars franchise newcomers Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris. The film is directed by Sam Mendes from a screenplay written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and John Logan. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producers.

Skyfall hits theaters in the UK and Ireland on October 26th, with a North American release following on November 9th. The film stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace and Tonia Sotiropoulou.
