The war for The Hunger Games continues. What did Biggie Smalls say, “More money, More Problems.” Today Lionsgate Co-Chairmen Patrick Wachsberger announced that Universal International has snapped up the Italian distribution rights to “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Right under Warner Brothers noises.
Warner Brother cannot be happy with this development. Last year, they release The Hunger Games in Italy in May, and reaped the financial rewards. But that’s ancient history now.
“We are delighted to expand our successful international partnership with Universal to Italy on this exciting franchise,” said Lionsgate International prexy Helen Lee Kim, who made the deal possible. “We have enjoyed a productive relationship with Universal in several territories on such recent Lionsgate films as ‘Step Up,’ ‘What to Expect When you’re Expecting,’ and ‘Cabin in the Woods.’
Catching Fire will be released world did on November 22, 2012.
