Video of Sofia Vergara on the Set of Robert Rodriguez’s, Machete Kills

Machete Kills

I’ve always felt like Robert Rodriguez was bordering on the edge of incompetence. He makes childish films for adults from a teenage perspective. His films are violent, the dialogue is layman and the woman in his films are completely cliched.  Yet, at the end of the day, Rodriquez manages to stay on the side of competence to produce, if nothing else, an hour and a half of entertainment. But don’t kid yourself, he is a philistine filmmaker, and his films cannot be called art, but entertainment.

This is not to say I don’t have the utmost respect for Robert Rodriguez and his career. He forged a career out of pure sweet, and “audacity, audacity, always audacity.” He has made and maintained great relationships with many actors, which has allowed him to produce films that turn a profit.

He was also smart enough to realize at a young age, that he is not Hollywood, but an independent filmmaker who would have to produce and finance films his way in order to have a long and steady career. Just look at the “One-Man Film Crew’s” credits. Robert Rodriguez regularly Produces, Directs, writes, edits, DP’s, and Steadicam’s his own films. He also composes the music and is heavily involved in the production design and the sound editing.

It’s pretty amazing to think about. He really does do it all. That’s why you must respect the man and his work in film, if not the actual films themselves. However, he has enough hardcore fans and apologist to conclude that his films are not made in vain. Some people out there really love his work, I don’t, but a lot of people and more or rather most importantly, actors do too. Just look at the list of fine actors he’s worked with or just look at the list of actors in his current project, Machete Kills: Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Miichelle Rodriguez, William Sadler and Charlie Sheen. What a people person! A trait underrated in the filmmaking world, because a lot of the worlds best filmmakers are known as testy, if not impolite.

Here’s some more good news for you fans of his, today we got the first on-set footage from Robert Rodriguez’s Machete sequel, Machete Kills. Sofia Vergara’s son Manolo hosts his own online reality series called Mi Vida con Toty, and as part of that series he visited the set of Machete Kills and recorded footage of his mother all decked out as a leather-clad dominatrix sporting a whip and some attitude during a scene featuring her and Danny Trejo, who plays our anti-hero, Machete. Check it out, it’s cool stuff.
